MCD launches a new season at the Great Hall with a Multi-Disciplinary Exhibit

Artist collective explores the pleasure of intellect and the intellect of pleasure alongside a brave new line of ready-to-wear jewelry

On Thursday, April 15th at the Great Hall, MCD will launch her latest line, Jouissance. The launch of her Fall/Winter season is conjoined with a collective exhibition, under the same name, consisting of works by local Toronto artists in multiple disciplines.

The term Jouissance is a play on words that means “I heard meaning” or in French, “j’ ouis sens". Art directed by Clemente herself, themes of each installation derive from the designer’s own journals that span and document a 4-year relationship. Jouissance explores themes of nostalgia, separation, renewal, sexual desire and pleasure, finding peace, being indulgent among other concepts surrounding the seemingly uncontrollable and intense emotions experienced when one is in love. The experience of jouissance is indicative of a breaking of boundaries and it is a connection beyond the self.
